What is Linear Vibration?

Lineal, Piston, or Vertical vibration platforms remain horizontal at all times with the entire platform moving up and down by the same amount. True linear platforms tend to be lower in amplitude and frequency then Oscillation vibration. Typically, the amplitude for these machines are between 3 to 10 mm with a frequency range from 3 Hz to 10 or 15 Hz. Because of the true up and down motion, the vibration from lineal machines can give you irregular heart rhythms or irregular breathing (I know it did for me). True linear machines are an almost obsolete type of vibration as it is replaced by triplanar vibration.

You never want to stand with your knees locked when on a lineal machine. As it is a true up and down motion, you may get a migraine after your workout due to head vibration or internal organ damage.

A simple up and down motion does not constitute linear vibration exercise! For example, anyone who has used a jack hammer, driven a truck or other heavy operating machinery with the “up and down” piston movement and vibration has probably developed back problems that can develop into long-term physical pains. The same way heavy equipment works your body is completely different from an actual linear vibration machine.

Take note that a machine is not a true linear machine if it does not just go up and down. These types of machines are not the best to buy and the technology is almost obsolete.
